At NHS Property Services, we believe our people are our greatest asset. That's why we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our People Strategy - Get, Grow, and Keep Great People, is all about building a values-driven culture where colleagues and customers are at the heart of everything we do.

We're looking for a Colleague Relations Assistant to join our Colleague Relations team and play a key role in supporting our managers to make confident, fair and consistent people decisions.

This role is often the first point of contact for line managers seeking advice, guidance or support. You'll help triage queries and cases, provide coaching and practical guidance on our people policies, and ensure managers feel supported at the right level, at the right time.

You'll also support the running of an efficient and responsive CR service, managing data, monitoring service levels and contributing to insight that helps us continually improve how we support our colleagues.

Who you are

You're organised, calm and people-focused, with a strong interest in colleague relations and a passion for helping managers do the right thing. You're confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and able to balance empathy with policy and process.

You'll likely bring:
  • Experience in an HR or people-focused role, ideally within employee or colleague relations
  • A good understanding of people policies, employment law fundamentals and best practice
  • The ability to coach and influence managers in a supportive, practical way
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data, systems and reporting
  • A customer-focused mindset and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • A willingness to learn, develop and grow within a people profession
CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) is desirable, along with GCSE-level English and Maths (or equivalent).

Key responsibilities
  • Acting as a first point of contact for managers, triaging calls and cases into the CR service
  • Providing clear, consistent advice and guidance in line with NHSPS people policies and procedures
  • Coaching managers to build their confidence, capability and judgement in handling people matters
  • Supporting managers with the administration of basic colleague relations correspondence
  • Managing your own caseload in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Monitoring SLAs across the team and producing timely data, reports and insights
  • Maintaining accurate systems, documentation and records
  • Working closely with the wider CR team to triage more complex or high-risk cases (e.g. TUPE, redundancy, discrimination)
  • Taking a flexible approach to working within an agile, customer-focused team
  • Supporting broader administrative activity across the CR function where needed
What we can offer you

We understand how important life is outside of work so, as well as a competitive salary we will also offer:
  • 27 days annual leave+ 8 days bank holiday with the option to buy additional weeks leave.
  • A Smarter Working Policy, empowering you to choose the location of how and where you work according to your daily activities.

  • SMART Pension contribution into which the company will contribute up to 6%
  • A range of flexible benefits including NHS retail discounts and Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • We have a great Colleague Assistance Programme and offer support for all areas of life.
