Registered Manager - Children's Residential Home

Overview:
A new, purpose-built 4-bed children's home in Nelson is opening soon, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to lead the home from pre-registration through to successful operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager ready to step up or an existing Registered Manager seeking a new challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the registration, setup, and ongoing management of the home

  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards

  • Build and manage a strong, child-focused staff team

  • Promote a therapeutic environment using the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy)

  • Collaborate with an on-site Mental Health Practitioner (1 day per week)

  • Oversee safeguarding, care planning, and risk management

  • Build positive relationships with children, staff, families, and external agencies

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' experience within the last 5 years working in a position relevant to the residential care of children
  • At least 1 year in a role supervising and managing staff in a children's residential setting (e.g. Deputy or Registered Manager)
  • Achieved or working towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England)
  • Full working knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team management skills
  • Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
