Our Mission
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The Valo, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.
We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals. Valo is targeting airliner-level safety certification in 2028 ahead of entering service with our airline and operator customers.
What to Expect:
You will play a central role in developing high-fidelity models that support the design, verification, and certification of the aircraft, while also taking ownership of the day-to-day operation of our simulation facilities. This role blends hands-on modelling with practical system oversight, giving you exposure to both engineering development and real-world simulation environments used across the business.
What You’ll Do:
-
Develop and maintain subsystem and aircraft-level models using MATLAB and Simulink
-
Validate and verify models using test data and analytical methods
-
Deliver simulation outputs to support design reviews, safety assessments, and certification activities
-
Collaborate closely with systems, controls, avionics, and test teams to ensure model accuracy and relevance
-
Produce simulation-based evidence aligned with certification requirements and support development of compliance approaches
-
Generate clear, traceable documentation in line with airworthiness and engineering standards
-
Own the setup, operation, and maintenance of simulation facilities across sites
-
Configure and run simulation sessions, including engineering use cases and demonstration activities
What You’ll Bring:
-
Strong experience using MATLAB and Simulink for modelling and simulation
-
Background in aerospace modelling or system-level analysis
-
Understanding of certification processes and how simulation supports compliance
-
Familiarity with airworthiness standards and structured engineering documentation
-
Hands-on experience working with simulation environments, including hardware and software systems
-
Ability to manage and organise complex technical systems and configurations
-
Comfortable working across teams and disciplines to support integration and development
-
Awareness of industry guidance such as NASA modelling standards or similar frameworks
