Fostering Assessing Social Worker

Location: LutonSalary: £42,148 - £44,686 per year and £963 essential car user allowance (subject to criteria)Hours: 37 hours per week

Our Children Services department in Luton is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Fostering Assessing Social Workers. In this role, you will undertake a full range of social work duties related to statutory Family Placement work, playing a vital role in promoting the best interests of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct recruitment and assessment of prospective foster carers in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services and Fostering Services Regulations.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for foster carers, colleagues, and yourself.
  • Make professional judgments in a multi-disciplinary setting, including negotiating resources.
  • Lead and chair multi-disciplinary meetings and represent the agency in formal settings.
  • Identify gaps in service delivery and influence service improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high-quality records, write clear reports, and correspondence on complex issues.

Requirements:

  • Substantial post-qualifying experience in fostering and statutory duties under the Children Act 1989, Fostering Minimum Standards, and Care Planning and Fostering Regulations 2015.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with diverse service users.
  • Dip SW, CQSW, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislation and statutory responsibilities relating to Children and Family Services.
  • Understanding of child development, family dynamics, and service eligibility criteria.
