MRD Recruitment is currently recruiting a Demand Planner on a full-time basis for one of our FMCG clients based in Motherwell.
The Demand Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate demand forecasts to support production, procurement, and distribution planning. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product availability while minimising waste and inventory costs. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations, you'll help drive business performance through insightful analysis and effective planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term demand forecasts at SKU and category levels using historical data, sales trends, and market intelligence.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to incorporate promotional activity, new product launches, and customer insights into the forecast.
- Facilitate the monthly demand planning cycle (e.g. S&OP), including forecast review meetings with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and bias, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
- Work closely with Supply Planning and Production to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and manufacturing capabilities.
- Maintain planning tools and systems (e.g. ERP, demand planning software) and ensure data integrity.
- Analyse and report on key performance indicators (e.g. forecast accuracy, service levels, inventory turns).
- Identify risks and opportunities in the demand plan and communicate recommendations to senior management.
- Support the integration of new systems, processes, or tools related to demand planning and supply chain optimisation.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain roles.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence decisions without direct authority.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Desirable:
- Experience working with S&OP processes.
