Manufacturing Engineer | Colchester | Defence Sector

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation that specialises in developing and delivering high-performance solutions within the defence sector. This role is part of a dedicated team that drives strategic growth and plays a key role in delivering high-profile defence projects.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be part of a motivated and collaborative team responsible for optimising production processes, ensuring efficiency and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

You'll play a crucial role in ensuring that designs meet customer requirements and evolve to meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

What You'll Be Doing:

Working with cross-functional teams to streamline manufacturing processes, boosting efficiency and reducing waste
Managing production equipment to ensure reliability and minimal downtime and supporting the introduction of new technologies and equipment
Leading continuous improvement initiatives - such as Six Sigma or Kaizen - to support operational excellence
Addressing and resolving production issues and collaborating with Quality teams to ensure compliance with stringent standards and customer expectations
Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing detailed reports, and contributing to technical documentation
Promoting a culture of health and safety by conducting risk assessments and implementing preventive measures
Working closely with design, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure seamless production activities and providing technical training to staffWhat We're Looking For:

At least 4 years' experience in an HVAC or similar engineering environment
A proactive team player with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Familiarity with engineering tools (such as SolidWorks) and an understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
