Through online media, events, and career advice and guidance, we enable brands to create rich, meaningful connections with one of the most relevant, influential, and loyal communities in America.
Our mission is to provide unfiltered reporting on issues affecting current members of the military and veterans navigating transition and the Department of Veterans Affairs. We were on the ground in December 2016 during the Standing Rock protests with 4,000 other veterans; we’ve challenged the treatment of women in service; we’ve sent journalists to Mexico to cover the deported U.S. veterans who are being recruited by drug cartels, we were one of the few publications allowed to attend the NRA’s annual conference this year, and we’ve gotten the exclusive on VA and DoD policies before they’ve been announced.
We're also on the hunt for an industry veteran, with relevant client and agency relationships, to build our consumer facing advertising, branded content, and integrated media business.
A successful candidate knows how to sell, is a student of today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. We want someone who is both a player and a coach, who can develop strategy, but then do the hard work to execute, close deals, and help build our business.
Oversee sales activity for Task & Purpose
Manage book of accounts to achieve quarterly sales quotas
Develop and manage relationships with media agencies and direct advertisers for better sales positioning and RFP ideation
Create, develop, and manage new business partnerships and accounts to exceed revenue goals
Forecast and develop sales quotas through strategic planning and key account reviews
Introduce Task & Purpose and the military audience to brands and agencies through meetings, written materials, pitches, and events
Identify and understand trends in digital media
Own the entire proposal process: identify customer needs, develop win themes, and produce complete proposals
Assess the competitive landscape and track key market trends and developments
Provide administrative support as well as excellent customer service and smooth communications
Maintain the database using your organizational skills to streamline processes and clean up the data
Proven sales ability to both agencies and direct clients, preferably in content-driven marketplace
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Ability to present, tell a compelling story, and conduct negotiations
Strong track record of success driving revenue through prospecting, creating new business, and growing existing business
Detailed knowledge of marketing trends, emerging media, consumer insights, and the latest digital/social/mobile technologies
Strong client/brand references
Bachelor's degree or equivalent military experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Demonstrated success selling online advertising
