Reed Accountancy is partnering with a well-established specialist import/distribution business to recruit a Credit Control Assistant with confident telephone skills for credit control, strong analytical skills, excellent Excel capability, and meticulous attention to detail.

This is a varied, hands-on position supporting a busy finance team, covering credit control, reconciliations, financial reporting, and Amazon Seller Central management.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable / Credit Control

  • Proactively chasing outstanding debts by phone and email in line with agreed payment terms.
  • Investigate and resolve internal and external payment queries, keeping directors informed of progress.
  • Review invoices, remittances, and payments to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process customer credit card payments via PDQ machines and payment terminals.
  • Send weekly/monthly statements, invoices, and credit notes, including ad-hoc requests.
  • Set up new customer accounts and liaise with internal departments to ensure timely issue resolution.

Financial Analysis & Accounting Support

  • Record and reconcile financial transactions across the sales ledger, purchase ledger, and cashbook.
  • Process sales and purchase invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete month-end reconciliations, investigating credit balances, discrepancies, and rebates.
  • Assist with VAT registrations and reconciliation of VAT control accounts for monthly and quarterly VAT returns, including multi-currency and EU jurisdictions.
  • Process daily income, cheque payments, and online banking transactions.
  • Produce ad-hoc financial and management reports, utilising strong Excel skills for data manipulation and reporting.

Amazon Seller Central Management

  • Manage and navigate Amazon Seller Central to generate sales, settlement, and financial reports.
  • Collate and reconcile Amazon sales data, fees, and VAT information.
  • Support Marketplace Facilitator VAT requirements, including understanding Amazon’s collection and remittance responsibilities for UK and EU sales.

Key Skills & Experience

  • A strong understanding of credit control or accounts receivable role.
  • Strong Excel skills and good proficiency across Office 365.
  • Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a flexible and organised approach.
