We are seeking a SEN Secondary Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.
Role Overview
As a SEN Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will be integral in supporting our students' educational and personal growth. This role requires a compassionate individual who can manage both the academic and emotional needs of our students.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Assist students with physical disabilities and mobility needs, including support with intimate care plans, ensuring respect and dignity at all times.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to foster a nurturing, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
- Help students develop independence and life skills in addition to academic learning.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated compassion and patience with a genuine interest in SEN education.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and apply specialist techniques.
- Experience with SEN strategies and communication aids is advantageous, though not required, as comprehensive training will be provided.
- A proactive, team-focused approach with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
