My client is urgently seeking an organised, proactive ALS Administrator to support the effective coordination, allocation, and administration of Additional Learning Support across the organisation.

This role plays a key part in ensuring learners with additional needs receive timely and accurate support, contributing to an inclusive and high-quality student experience.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Schedule specialist support appointments, including Access Arrangement Assessments, 1:1 support sessions, SALT, and other specialist interventions.
  • Maintain detailed records of Access Arrangement appointments, attendance, and assessor information.
  • Ensure the correct evidence is collected and processed for Access Arrangements and exam concessions.
  • Liaise closely with the exams team to ensure all documentation is submitted promptly.
  • Manage and maintain centralised electronic filing systems for ALS referrals and Access Arrangements.
  • Update and maintain ALS referral forms annually.
  • Support the organisation of Speech & Language Therapy appointments and contribute to the development of learner support groups.
  • Oversee departmental filing, archiving, and evidence collation for audits and quality checks.
  • Maintain timetables for specialist Learning Support Assistants.
  • Work collaboratively with student support teams to prepare information for EHCP reviews.
  • Use internal databases and produce documents/spreadsheets when required.
  • Maintain annual leave records for the ALS department.
  • Assist in staff and learner training relating to ALS procedures and technologies.
  • Support administrative activities for high-needs funding, 19+ funding, and annual review processes.
  • Contribute to college events, including open evenings and enrolment.
  • Provide occasional cover within Learning Resource Centres and student support areas.
  • Act as a Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for SEND and ALS learners.
  • Undertake additional duties aligned with the post as required.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills & experience:

  • Strong understanding of office administration best practice.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience providing administrative support in a busy environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage priorities independently.
  • Knowledge or awareness of supporting young people with additional learning needs.
  • Resilience when managing behavioural or challenging situations.
  • Experience using databases and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to work both on-site and remotely using tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Maths and English GCSE (or willingness to work towards equivalent Level 2)
  • Experience of working in an education environment desirable
  • Qualification in safeguarding or Equality & Diversity (or willingness to obtain) desirable
