Chase Brass and Copper Company, the leader in the brass rod industry in the United States, is seeking a Tooling & Design Engineer to add to our innovative team in Montpelier, OH.
Roll Purpose and Scope:
The Tooling & Design Engineer will support the manufacturing operations by designing and developing the tooling necessary to produce all Chase products. This position is also responsible for managing the tooling inventory, supplier development, and technical support of the Sales and Business development processes.
Responsible for all aspects of the design, development and troubleshooting of all tooling to support the manufacturing environment.
- Responsible for managing inventory control, budgeting, and sourcing of all tooling.
Designs, conducts trials, and evaluates new tooling.
Sets and controls tooling quality criteria leading to continual improvements in operational performance.
Provides engineering support to the Sales department by estimating tooling cost estimates for new products as needed.
Leads quality improvement and cost reduction efforts related to the tooling process.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Undergraduate Engineering degree or equivalent engineering experience
Five years of similar tool design experience
Purchasing and vendor management experience required
Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work style that promotes a cross-functional, unified approach to process control and improvements
Experience in applying computer aided design software. Ability to apply finite element analysis and three dimensional design computer modeling is preferred.
