Fluent Welsh Teaching Assistant 

Pay: £11.83 per hour

Location - CF15 Cardiff

Start Date- 2nd October 2023

Hours: Full-time/8:30-3:30

The Role

Teaching Personnel are working with a Welsh Medium Primary school in Cardiff who are currently looking for an Teaching Assistant to work with children on the intervention programme. The perfect candidate will deliver precision teaching using methods including Tric a Chlic and a synthetic phonics programme specific to each pupil. You will work alongside the teacher to deliver targeted interventions to selected pupils covering maths and literacy. Due to the nature of the role confidence with these subjects is desired. The role would involve working as both classroom support and on a 1:1 basis to ensure the selected pupils are supported and thriving in the educational environment. The role also involves supporting the pupils emotionally therefore patience and understanding is an important and key aspect of the role.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Supporting disengaged students in group and 1:1 setting
Identify students alongside the class teacher who would benefit from the intervention
Confidence in highlight development and progress using pupil specific intervention plans
Emotional support for the pupils, developing their personal and social skills to support them through and beyond the educational setting.
Knowledge and experience with Tric a Chlic is desired as it is one of the main programmes of teaching literacy to the Foundation Phase of Welsh Medium Primary Schools

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS (child only) and registered with the Update Service

• EWC registration

• Welsh Language (Fluent)
