Lead HV Battery Structures Engineer - Contract

📍 Gaydon | ⏳ 12 Month Contract

We are supporting a leading automotive OEM in the search for a Lead HV Battery Structures Engineer to join their Vehicle Structures team based in Gaydon.

This is a key contract role, reporting directly to the Technical Group Leader, with responsibility for the design, development and delivery of HV battery structural systems across multiple in‑flight vehicle programmes.

The Role

You'll take a lead technical role in the delivery of HV battery enclosures, including frame, lid, sealing, venting and associated bracketry, ensuring all programmes meet the latest technical requirements, safety standards and strategic direction.

Working at vehicle and platform level, you'll ensure robust structural integration, compatibility with adjacent systems, and delivery of critical vehicle attributes throughout the delivery phase.

Key Responsibilities

Lead delivery of HV battery structural systems across active vehicle programmes
Own the design and development of components through the delivery phase, with platform and project engineer accountability
Ensure structures meet cost, weight, NVH, dynamics, safety and functional targets
Drive efficient structural integration and compatibility within the wider vehicle architecture
Interface with Vehicle and Power Unit programme teams to support system delivery
Ensure designs are released for tooling and manufacture in line with programme timing
Maintain alignment with latest technical requirements and engineering strategy
Provide technical leadership while managing multiple priorities simultaneously

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven leadership and execution capability within a complex engineering environment
Strong experience in HV Battery, Body or Subframe structural components
Background in mechanical design of safety‑critical structures
Demonstrated ability to lead component and system engineering in context
Experience delivering performance attributes including durability, stiffness, NVH, weight and cost
Self‑motivated engineer able to deliver with minimal supervision
Strong multitasking and stakeholder‑management skills

Education & Background

Mechanical design or structural engineering background
Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification
