Deputy Director of Finance

In this senior role, you will lead the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury teams, ensuring the delivery of accurate, efficient and compliant financial services. Key Responsibilities
As Deputy Director of Finance, you will:
- Lead and manage the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury teams, ensuring strong performance, consistent standards and effective workflow allocation.
- Oversee the effective operation of financial systems, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Ensure all month-end and year-end processes are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain timely reconciliation of all control accounts and bank accounts.
- Act as the primary contact for day-to-day banking matters.
- Monitor and review financial investments in line with treasury policies.
- Ensure all finance staff receive appropriate training in systems and procedures.
- Support ongoing improvements across finance systems, processes and operational practices.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and implement recommendations where needed.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings both expertise and leadership. You will have:
Essential
- Experience managing a financial administration or operational finance team.
- A minimum of AAT Level 4, NVQ Level 4 or an equivalent finance qualification.
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and treasury management.
- Excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills (including Microsoft Office).
- Strong communication, numeracy and literacy skills.
- Proven ability to work flexibly, use initiative and manage competing deadlines.
- A track record of achieving objectives and meeting performance targets.
Desirable
- Experience supporting system improvements or upgrades.
- Experience working within finance in a further education establishment.
