Building Surveyor / Services Engineer

  • Location: Warrington, WA1
  • Pay: £30–£40 per hour

Join a supportive, professional team in the heart of Warrington. We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Services Engineer to join our small, friendly, and highly supportive Building Services team at Warrington Borough Council. Based at the council’s flagship office at 1 Time Square, this role offers a modern, collaborative workplace and the opportunity for longer-term involvement for the right candidate.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams on construction, improvement, and refurbishment projects.
  • Manage projects from feasibility through to completion, including planning, procurement, site inspection, and handover.
  • Conduct condition surveys, prepare reports, and contribute to the annual maintenance programme.
  • Assess and manage response repairs, allocate work to contractors, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Prepare specifications, tender documents, and CAD drawings.
  • Ensure works comply with health & safety legislation, building regulations, procurement rules, and energy efficiency standards.
  • You will be part of a team that values collaboration, professionalism, and delivering excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in delivering building or services engineering projects.
  • Strong IT skills including proficiency in AutoCAD, NBS/NES, and Microsoft applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction standards, procurement, and health & safety legislation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and repair works simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
  • ONC/OND (essential) and HNC/HND (essential) in Building Studies/Services or equivalent.
  • Working towards or holding membership of CIOB, CIAT, CIBSE, or equivalent (desirable).
