Head of Projects - Major Civils Programme North West England

I'm supporting a leading international infrastructure contractor delivering a major, long-term civils programme in the North West. This is scheme involves complex civil engineering, heavy infrastructure works, multi-disciplinary delivery, and close collaboration within a wider strategic partnership.
We're looking for an experienced Head of Projects to lead multiple work streams across the programme, ensuring safe, efficient, and commercially successful delivery. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for someone with extensive major-project experience who enjoys driving performance, leading teams, and shaping strategy on high-value infrastructure works.

Role overview:

Lead multiple civil engineering projects and work packages from design through to delivery
Provide strategic leadership to project managers, engineering teams and commercial leads
Oversee all aspects of programme delivery including safety, quality, schedule, risk, and financial performance
Drive best practice across planning, design coordination, construction, and handover
Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships within a complex delivery partnership
Ensure governance, compliance, and contract requirements are fully met
Report into senior leadership at programme level, shaping future workstreams and delivery strategyWhat we're looking for:

Strong background in leading major civils, infrastructure, or heavy engineering projects
Proven experience managing both direct teams and supply chain partners
Ability to lead within a collaborative JV or delivery-partner environment
Excellent stakeholder management, client interface, and communication skills
Deep understanding of risk, programme assurance, governance, and high-value project controls
Strong leadership style: proactive, collaborative, and delivery-focusedThis role requires the ability to satisfy security vetting processes linked to high-security infrastructure environments.
