About the role

Hargreaves Lansdown's website is a core part of our digital platform and provides both prospective and current clients with information on our service, the stock market, news, and education. Hargreaves Lansdown is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Technical Lead to join our team that's focused on building, maintaining, and improving our Web Platform (CMS). A key focus will be helping us migrate to a new headless CMS, which will transform our online experience and allow us to build rapidly, at scale, across multiple channels and services, alongside the support and delivery of changes to the existing CMS and website.

Responsibilities

Acts as a single point of contact for the CMS technical implementation, governance and escalation for the delivery team
Establish the technical vision for the team and provide advice on how to design and build against this vision
Identifies obstacles, issues, decisions, dependencies and risks and helps the delivery team to overcome them
Look for opportunities to collaborate and improve overall technology outcomes for HL clients and colleagues, communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Lead the team in defining and evolving the technical approach and coaching other developers within the team
Responsible for the successful operation and performance of the CMS team
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product and team's development workflow including for the quality, security and performance and CI/CD processes
Ensure platform documentation is clear, consistent and can be easily consumed by all stakeholders
Act as a subject matter expert for Front End Development technologies within HL
Line management responsibilities for the engineers within the team

Experience

Essential

Experience working with and implementing headless content management systems (CMS), including workflows, content modelling, querying content.
Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining React-based JavaScript SPAs using Next.js
Experience of onboarding 3rd party tools, and integration with existing internal and external applications
Experience and knowledge of using the Jamstack architectural approach and implementing a composable architecture
Experience with unit, integration, and end to end testing tools and practices (e.g. Jest, Cypress, Backstop)
Understanding of Microservices & principles of RESTful API development, including structuring, documenting, versioning, testing and stubbing/mocking
Experience working with and implementing MarTech solutions such as Analytics, A/B Testing, Personalisation and Tag Management within a website
Experience with Agile methodology

Desirable

Previous experience of implementing and using Contentful, Contentstack, Sanity or Kontent CMS
Experience performing a website re-build and/or a CMS migration
Experience of working with and using Adobe tools such as Launch, Target and Analytics

Knowledge

Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (SCSS), JavaScript and Typescript
Excellent working knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, in particular, React
Fluent using Git (GitLab)
Understanding CI / CD and Trunk Based Development
Aware of website performance implications and best practices
Advocate of excellent development practices including accessibility coding practices
Able to write, assist in writing or reviewing technical documentation
Knowledge and understanding of working with Cloud Native Technologies, in particular, AWS lambdas (JavaScript)
Appreciation for different page rendering approaches including client side (CSR), server-side (SSR), incremental (ISR)
