Gateman / Civil Operative

Start Date: 01/12/2025

Contract Duration: 8 months initially (with strong likelihood of extension)

Working Hours: 45 hours per week

Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 5:30pm

Location: Swansea North and Cilfynydd

Pay Rate: £30-£32 per hour (Inside IR35)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Gateman / Civil Operative to support ongoing civil engineering works on a long-term project. The successful candidate will play a key role in site access control, on-site safety, and general civils support, operating various plant and maintaining safe working practices at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Manage site access and egress, ensuring all personnel and vehicles comply with site safety procedures.
Support daily civil works, working alongside site supervisors and operatives.
Safely operate plant machinery including forward tipping dumpers and ride-on rollers (as ticketed).
Carry out slinging and signalling duties as required.
Assist with general groundworks and civil engineering tasks.
Promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on site.

Essential Requirements

Slinger/Signaller qualification
NPORS or CPCS Forward Tipping Dumper
NPORS or CPCS Ride-on Roller
3-Day First Aid certificate
2-Day HSG47 training
Civil Operative / Gateman (NSI8 Full)
Proven experience working on civil engineering or construction sites
