Contracts Manager - Civils
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000

A leading civils team is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the delivery of infrastructure schemes across the Midlands, with a focus on the Sprint framework—an ambitious transport initiative designed to improve bus connectivity and reduce congestion across key corridors.
 
About the Project:
The project involves the creation of dedicated bus lanes and priority routes along major transport corridors, including:

A-road connecting Walsall to Birmingham
A-road linking Solihull and Birmingham Airport to Birmingham city centre 
The works include utility diversions, bus stop construction, and enhancements to public transport infrastructure—supporting faster, more reliable journeys across Birmingham.
 
Key Responsibilities of the Contracts Manager role:

Lead civils schemes from EDI stage through to successful delivery
Build strong, collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders
Oversee planning, programming, and site coordination
Manage site teams and supply chain partners to ensure safe, timely execution
Collaborate with Pre-Construction teams to shape and influence project programmes
Monitor contractual programmes and update cost forecasts with the commercial team
Coach and develop team members to support career progression
Procure materials, plant, and subcontractors in line with project targets
Support identification of future work opportunities across the region 
The Ideal Contracts Manager Candidate:

Proven experience delivering multiple civils schemes or major highways projects
Strong leadership and planning skills with a hands-on approach
Familiarity with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
Civil engineering qualification preferred but not essential
Commitment to safety, quality, and collaborative working
