A high-growth digital subscription and entertainment business is seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Controller to join their senior leadership team. Backed by major investors and operating in a rapidly expanding sector, this is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and play a pivotal role in the next stage of the company's growth journey.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will work closely with the CFO to establish and strengthen the internal finance function, transitioning from outsourced accounting to a fully in-house model. This is a broad and hands-on role, covering everything from bookkeeping and payroll through to statutory reporting and audit. You will also partner with senior stakeholders across the business, supporting commercial decision-making in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Financial Controller Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day finance operations including bookkeeping, reconciliations, supplier and payroll payments
• Produce accurate monthly reporting packs with variance analysis to budget
• Maintain rolling 12-week cashflow forecasts and robust financial controls
• Partner with Heads of Department on budget tracking and forecasting
• Manage quarterly banking compliance and annual audit process
• Prepare statutory accounts under UK adopted IFRS and oversee HMRC / Companies House filings
• Support the CFO with annual budgeting, reforecasting and financial planning
• Play a key role in strengthening processes and controls as the company scales

Financial Controller Requirements:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (essential)
• Strong technical background - preparation of financial statements, managing audits, balance sheet reconciliations, and compliance
• Experience within an SME or high-growth environment (practice-trained candidates making the move into industry also considered)
• Hands-on, adaptable, and commercially minded with excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and emotional intelligence - able to collaborate effectively across finance and non-finance teams
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a flat structure
