Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our finance team. This role will play a pivotal part in financial reporting, controls, and strategic decision support, while ensuring best practices in financial governance across our UK operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for a finance professional with a background in commodities trading or the metals industry, looking to bring rigour and insight into a fast-paced business environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Own the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting (under IFRS) for URL the main company and 4 smaller companies.

* To improve the monthly closing activities, internal controls and reporting packages.

* Prepare consolidated financial statements and oversee, internal controls, consolidation eliminations and intercompany reconciliations.

* To coordinate with CFO / Head of Finance the tax computation and tax returns for the 4 UK entities

* Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax reporting obligations (e.g. VAT, corporation tax).

* Monitor and manage working capital, and liquidity positions and related financial ratios

* Develop and implement robust financial internal control environment, accounting policies, and procedures across trading and operational functions.

* Partner with trading, logistics, and operational teams to provide actionable financial insight.

* Support the CFO (and FP&A team) in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modelling.

* Liaise with external auditors, banks, and tax advisors.

* Support system enhancements and process automation initiatives._

Key Requirements

* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).

* Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a financial control or finance business partner role.

* Prior experience in the metals industry or commodities trading environment is highly desirable.

* Familiarity and prior experience with mark-to-market accounting is a plus

* Strong understanding of financial instruments, hedging, inventory accounting, and FX exposure.

* Advanced Excel skills, system and business system, automation and BI

* Strong knowledge with ERP systems (especially MS Dynamics) is an advantage.

* Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial setting.

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
