Overview

A long-established, family-run organisation within the technical materials-handling and equipment sector is seeking a reliable and proactive Warehouse Operative to join their operations team. This role supports goods-in, despatch, stock control, and general warehouse duties, working within a friendly but high-performing environment where attention to detail and customer focus are central.

The position is initially temporary with the view to progressing into a permanent role within a stable, well-established business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive deliveries: signing for, unloading, booking in, and putting stock away.
  • Support the despatch department to ensure orders are packed accurately and delivered on time.
  • Use internal software systems (including ERP platforms) to complete:
  • Goods receipts
  • Goods despatch entries
  • Ensure all items are securely packed with correct labelling and accompanying paperwork.
  • Report low or out-of-stock items to the sales support team.
  • Maintain and update stock locations both physically in the warehouse and within the ERP system.
  • Assist in regular stock takes and update system records accordingly.
  • Process customer repairs: receive items, log them into the system, move them through the repair workflow, and ensure administration teams are updated on progress.
  • Keep warehouse, goods-in, and assembly areas clean, organised, and safe.
  • Support production and assembly teams when required.
  • Carry out light maintenance and general upkeep of the outside areas of the building.

Essential:

  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accurate work.
  • Confident communicator who asks questions to avoid errors.
  • Able to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to support other areas of the business when needed.
  • Within a reasonable commuting distance (up to approx. one hour).
