Job Title: Mammalian Cell Culture and Molecular Biology Technician

Reports to: CEO

Start date: Immediate

Contract term: Fixed-term, until March 31, 2027. Part-time - 2 or 3 days a week

Salary: £25K-£27K FTE per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a 0.6 FTE (3 days a week) or 0.4 FTE (2 days a week) role, pro rata.

Location of work: Sci-Tech Daresbury, Cheshire

Reason for role: support to deliver an Innovate UK project on the Next-Generation ADC Manufacturing platform

About Daresbury Proteins

Daresbury Proteins is an award-winning biotech start-up based in Warrington, specializing in mammalian recombinant protein production and cell line development. We focus on the R&D of "difficult-to-express" recombinant biologics produced in mammalian cells.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Technician to support an Innovate UK project focused on a Next-Generation Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) Manufacturing platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will assist in cloning experiments, transfections, and the day-to-day operations of our laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

* Molecular Biology: Clone and validate genetic elements in expression vectors for recombinant protein production.

* Cell Culture: Create stable and transient cell lines using various transfection approaches.

* Reporting: Maintain precise lab books and produce regular reports to track project progress.

* Lab Maintenance: Contribute to general lab housekeeping to ensure smooth internal operations.

* Collaboration: Communicate regularly with the CEO and team members to meet project deliverables.

Requirements & Qualifications

* Education: A degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

* Experience: Proven hands-on experience in molecular biology and mammalian tissue culture.

* Technical Skills: Proficiency in maintaining adherent and suspension-grown cell lines (e.g., CHO, HEK293) and conducting expression analysis.

* Cloning: Confidence in restriction enzyme-based cloning techniques and data analysis.

* Soft Skills: Ability to work independently with high precision, motivation, and strong interpersonal skills.

* Data Literacy: Ability to interpret scientific data and maintain impeccable records.
