Leader Recruitment Group, a trusted specialist in recruitment for children's residential care, is delighted to represent our client in their search for an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to join a therapeutic children's home in St Albans. As the Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care to children and young people with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or challenging behaviour, helping them achieve positive outcomes in a safe and loving home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care services, ensuring the home meets Ofsted standards and promotes the well-being of children.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and service development to enhance care provision within the home.

  • Lead and mentor a team of care staff, providing supervision, organising work patterns, and facilitating care-focused training.

  • Deliver therapeutic care and support tailored to each child's needs, fostering recovery, growth, and lasting change.

  • Act as a positive role model for colleagues and children, building trusting relationships to meet everyday living needs.

  • Assist with the management of rotas, budgets, and accessing appropriate services to support childcare practices.

  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted legislation, safeguarding procedures, and organisational policies.

  • Work flexibly, including shifts and sleep-in duties (approx. 4-8 per month), to meet the needs of the children.

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential: Minimum of 3 years' experience in children's residential care.

  • Essential: NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (CYPW) or Residential Childcare.

  • Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted legislation, safeguarding procedures, and best practices in children's residential care.

  • Highly driven, proactive, and enthusiastic leader with a hands-on approach to people management.

  • Experience managing rotas and budgets.

  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children, colleagues, and external professionals.

  • Flexible and resilient, with a commitment to delivering therapeutic care.
