We are seeking a Private Client Tax Assistant to join a well-established Accountancy Practice based in Hertfordshire. This role involves assisting with routine personal tax compliance and ad hoc advisory work, supporting senior colleagues with their client portfolios.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Handling a range of capital gains tax issues.
  • Liaising with clients, banks, and other third parties.
  • Addressing HMRC queries and attending client meetings.
  • Gathering data and preparing internal management statistics.
  • Assisting with proposals, proposing fees, raising client bills, and regularly reviewing Work in Progress (WIP).
  • Undertaking research on behalf of Managers/Partners.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • ATT qualification is desired but not essential.
  • Previous tax experience is essential.
  • Understanding and application of basic tax practice, risk management, and quality control protocols.
  • Competence in the use of tax software applications.
  • Ability to prepare basic tax computations/returns and written work on tax topics relevant to client assignments.
  • Awareness of the relationship between chargeable hours recorded, fees, and the ability to analyse WIP on an ongoing basis.
