Salary £27,000 per annum

Working Hours:  on a 4 on 4 off days and night rotating shift



A local well established company are looking to recruit a QA Auditor for their busy office in Bedford.

The job role:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Daily factory walk with relevant managers to ensure food quality and safety compliance
  • Complete online verification to ensure that the manufacture is conforming to the sites critical control point
  • Verify that the manufacture of products is conforming to all aspects of food safety through the quality management system
  • Ensure site is complying to food standards through internal auditing
  • Conduct staff training
  • Verify all paperwork completed onsite
  • Work with the hygiene team to ensure that cleaning is been completed to a food safe standard.
  • Conduct swabbing verification - of swabs for cleaning verification and allergenic controls
  • Collate and complete chemical, microbiological & nutritional testing as per the schedule
  • Conduct online and offline verification product checks through Organoleptic testing
  • Complete daily taste panel.
  • Complete any investigation into hold material.
  • Complete investigations in relevance to any possible contamination on the product.
  • Ensure that any out of specification product is put on hold (including 'forward' and backward' checks.); maintaining a hold log and concession log and communicate.
  • Complete all metal rejection investigations
  • Ensure communication to all relevant departments through product investigations.
  • Ensure that Certificates of analysis are sent to the customer within the agreed deadlines.
  • Complete any tasks requested as a part of the factory food safety audit schedule.
  • Complete traceability within the time frame
  • Complete daily tasks including calibrations, scales checks, needle, scissor and scoop checks
  • Conduct site audits including GMP, Moisture, etc and report to senior management team.
  • Maintaining HACCP and CCP within the site - Control and verification of metal detectable equipment.
  • Ensure that Certificates of analysis are sent to the customer within the agreed deadlines.
  • Metal Detector sensitivities to be checked as per frequency
  • Metal Detector reject finds to be checked and analysed as per frequency -
  • Carry out AU (from American table) and Lipase tests as per frequency
  • Ensure all relevant documents are completed correctly and in a timely manner including labels.
  • Product, water and swab sampling as per testing schedules.
  • Fridge and vending machine checks for allergens, spoilage, cleanliness and temperature.
  • Record and investigate non-conformances and report to relevant people.
  • Equipment calibration/verification checks as per procedure.
  • Perform proficiency & destructive testing programmes as per schedule.
  • Report on assigned critical points.
  • Notify your line manager of any potential Health & Safety issues.

 Skills and qualifications

  • Experience in similar role - food related background
  • Level 2 or 3 HACCP qualification / certification
  • Internal auditing qualification/certification
  • Food related qualification
  • Knowledge of BRC, ISO, Organic & major retailer standards - desirable
