A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading cost and project management consultancy on site in London. The Quantity Surveyor will join an established organisation on a large rail project.
This is a great opportunity to work with a leading specialist within the construction industry whilst learning from an experienced team.
Duties

Provide pro-active advice and guidance to the project management teams on commercial matters and make sure projects and programmes are managed in accordance withpolicies and procedures.

Support with the management on all change including proposed scope changes, recommending appropriate action in accordance with change control systems and produce all required documentation for approval in accordance with levels of delegated authority, including comparative estimates where required, in a timely manner.
Monitor awareness of all activities on allocated projects to influence decision making from a commercial perspective. Review contractor delivery: including leading valuation of medium value/medium risk contracts and attending all progress meetings to actively influence contractor's commercial behaviours, delivery, and activity.
Undertake final account settlements and internal reconciliation to project close-out as per the project authority, project plan and within agreed timescales.
Support pre and post contract procurement activities as appropriate.
Provide support to estimating resources, offering guidance and advice on project scale/scope as required.
Support the negotiation of all prices under existing contracts/framework agreements (including the negotiation of target costs) and fully participate in the associated quantitative risk assessment and value management workshops, as required.Requirements

Significant experience of working within a generalist commercial environment.
Quantity Surveying qualifications or at least 10 years relevant Railway experience.
Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes.
5 years' experience in commercially managing investment projects.
Good understanding of railway and construction industry forms of contract.
Good understanding of the construction/railway industry.
Good negotiation skills.
Practical skills and understanding of a railway environment.
An active interest in their practitioner's work, and provision of pertinent guidance and support.
Capacity to flex resource as necessary to meet the demands of the work or requirements of the client.
