About the Role
As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll do more than fix things - you'll help create a safe, well-kept, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will take ownership of day-to-day maintenance tasks, from urgent repairs and preventative checks to small improvement projects, ensuring the home runs smoothly and efficiently.

You'll work closely with the Maintenance Manager, supporting planned maintenance schedules, monitoring building systems and equipment, and addressing issues promptly and effectively. Your work ensures that all areas of the home, including communal spaces, bedrooms, kitchens, and outdoor areas, are safe, clean, and fully functional.

In this role, you'll also assist with documentation, health and safety checks, and liaising with colleagues across departments to maintain the highest standards of compliance and resident wellbeing. Every repair or improvement you make contributes directly to residents' comfort, safety, and overall quality of life.

What We're Looking For
You bring solid experience in building maintenance, with practical skills in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs. You are organised, proactive, and confident managing tasks efficiently. You take pride in delivering high-quality work and ensuring that health and safety standards are met at all times.

You must hold a full UK driving licence to meet the requirements of this role.

Location
Guthrie House Care Home is located in Edinburgh's Liberton area and provides nursing care for up to 88 residents.
