SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: Bristol

Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Salary: £90-£95 per day (dependent on experience)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Bristol this September. This is a full-time role, ideal for someone with a genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs.

You will be supporting pupils across Key Stages (depending on the school placement), providing one-to-one and small group support, helping to create a calm and engaging learning environment for pupils with a range of additional needs including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils with SEND in the classroom, helping them to access learning and achieve their targets
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO to deliver tailored interventions and individualised support plans
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging independence and confidence
Adapt resources and use a range of strategies to meet pupils' individual learning and behavioural needs
Assist with personal care and mobility where necessary (depending on the needs of the child)
Contribute to the planning, review, and progress monitoring of pupils with EHCPs

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in a UK school or care setting
A calm, patient, and flexible approach with a genuine commitment to inclusive education
A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in education or childcare is desirable but not essential
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies (training will be provided if needed)
Must have or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
