Are you ready to drive quality at the heart of a world-class manufacturing operation? We are looking for a precision-minded Supplier Development Engineer to join our clients team in Peterlee. In this role, you won't just be checking boxes; you'll be a vital consultant to the supply chain, fostering high-trust partnerships and ensuring that every component meeting our assembly line is built to the highest possible standards.   • Work Schedule: Mon-Thu (7 am - 3 pm) and Friday (7 am - 12 pm)

  • Pay rates: £32.40 - £34.40 per hour

  • Travel: 10% travel required

As a Supplier Development Engineer for a large global manufacturer, you will ensure all products are defect-free and compliant with manufacturing specifications and legal standards. Your daily impact includes:

  • Quality Assurance: Conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify issues and developing robust evaluation mechanisms.

  • Supplier Partnership: Guiding suppliers to reduce defect rates and supporting them in process enhancements and quality assurance plans.

  • Auditing & Compliance: Researching potential vendors and conducting quality control audits to ensure they meet federal and organisational policies.

  • Performance Monitoring: Generating reports on supplier defect rates and resolving any discrepancies between performance and agreements.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • A degree, with equivalent experience also desired.

  • Experience with the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including testing, validation, and managing complex documentation.

  • Strong background in Supplier Management, with the ability to build long-term partnerships and develop quality standards.

  • Ability to identify root causes, analyse risks, and document resolution alternatives.

  • Insight into evaluating production methods and implementing controls to maximise efficiency gains.

  • The ability to deliver helpful, non-defensive feedback and present technical reports clearly to various stakeholders.
