Mechanical Design Engineer - Staff - Design & Build - Salary + Excellent Benefits - Hampshire

Our client is a leading designer & manufacturer in their market, and they are seeking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer on a staff basis. The successful candidate will help to develop innovative products in-line with company objectives. This job involves working flexibly on multiple projects at different stages where priorities may change as support and development activities require. This role will involve direct customer communication at times to capture requirements and resolve issues at various stages of concept, detail development, customer application and on-going support of product requirements. Refinement of existing and on-going optimisation of designs and production processes is also key to the role as well as an understanding of the core product.

Main Responsibilities:

* You will capture requirements and application specifications for the design.

* You will take responsibility for design, validation, and implementation of new products as well as application specific variants of standard product and product improvements.

* Where applicable you will produce calculations and assessments of design for key elements prior to detail design. This could also be in the form of CAD simulations.

* You will contribute towards continuous improvement of working practices, cost & time reduction, design, and processes elements to optimise quality in an ISO9001 company.

* Assist with production and field issue investigation, providing appropriate solutions as and when required. This may mean providing on-site application support, trouble-shooting and remote training to customers. Travel to customer or test sites may be required (UK and global).

* You will help to ensure our product quality is maintained and high standards are met. You may be asked to participate in collaborations across departments to further business aims.

* You will need to participate in reviews and checking document changes where required as part of the release process.

* Also inform of any opportunities for product improvements as well as leading own investigations. Carry out any other reasonable duty as requested by the Team leader/Coordinator.

Essential Experience & Qualification:

* A BSc (Hons) or equivalent, in mechanical engineering or related subject.

* Experience in a hands-on mechanical product development role. Wide technical base knowledge.

* 3D parametric CAD proficiency or similar software (preferably Solidworks).

* IT literacy, competent MS Office user.

* Design analysis, understanding of robustness of design through good practices. Design for manufacturing, assembly and test.

* Industry experience in either manufacturing, equipment or machinery for commercial or industrial use, design & build or similar sector.

Desirable Skills:

* FMEA / risk reduction & mitigation skills.

* Project planning and delivery.

* Understanding of fluid / pneumatic systems.

* Experience of system design and multiple component integration
