Reed Technology is working with a fantastic Aberdeen based client as they look to add an Assistant IT Security Officer to their team as they continue to strengthen their internal security offering.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to step into a vital role ensuring that organisational security is constantly improving amidst ongoing IT transformation projects.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Contribute to shaping and delivering IT strategy by developing and implementing robust security policies and procedures.
- Continuously assess the organisation’s IT security posture, identifying risks and designing secure, scalable solutions across systems and services.
- Support vulnerability management efforts, monitor for threats, and coordinate effective responses to security incidents and breaches.
- Work closely with internal IT, engineering, and business teams, as well as external partners and service providers, to ensure consistent and effective security practices.
- Support compliance with legal and regulatory requirements through audits, data request handling, and the development of user training and awareness programs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of evolving cyber threats and technologies, applying this knowledge to improve security operations and support business continuity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ideally 2 years of experience in an IT-related role, with hands-on exposure to IT security systems.
- Strong understanding of IT fundamentals, including networks (LAN/WAN), operating systems, Active Directory, authentication systems, cloud computing, and core security concepts.
- Familiar with industry security standards and frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and ISO, and able to apply them in practice.
- Proven ability to work effectively in teams, with strong communication and presentation skills and a commitment to a positive work environment.
- Certifications such as CISA or CISSP (or equivalent experience) are highly desirable.
