Job Requirements of this Teaching Assistant job in Cannock

Ability to support students with challenging behaviour in a calm and patient manner.

Proficiency in implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.

Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies.

Capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic development of students.

Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of students and the school environment.

Commitment to promoting a positive learning atmosphere and fostering the social and emotional well-being of students.

Qualifications or Certificates:

Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Teaching Assistance or equivalent.

Relevant safeguarding training and certification.

Experience:

Proven experience working with challenging behaviour within a school environment or similar setting.

Experience supporting young people of secondary age (11-16 years) is preferred.

Familiarity with alternative provision settings or special educational needs (SEN) is advantageous.

Brief Overview of the Role:

Age Group: Secondary age students (11-16 years).

The role involves providing one-to-one or group support to students with challenging behaviour, assisting them in accessing the curriculum, and promoting positive engagement in learning activities.

Responsibilities may include implementing behaviour management strategies, facilitating social skills development, and providing academic support under the guidance of teaching staff.

The Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and external agencies to ensure the holistic support and progress of students within the alternative provision school.
