Job Description



The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Industrial Management and Technology (IMT), starting January 1, 2020. The department offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering Technology (accredited by ATMAE) and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Industrial Management.



The Chair will lead the department forward toward its mission and set a vision for its growth consistent with the College's strategic plan. The successful candidate will have an established record of accomplishments in teaching, externally funded research, peer-reviewed publications, and leadership. The position requires strong communication skills and excellent judgment, with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with the college leadership as well as leading in and contributing to diverse learning environments. The appointment is expected to be made at the rank of full Professor (or Associate Professor).







The Chair will set a vision for the department to enhance and maintain currency of all degree programs, develop curriculum and new degree programs, lead accreditation activities, teach courses, carry out fiscal and administrative management of faculty, staff and resources, manage recruitment and retention, promote scholarly activities, establish and maintain externally funded research, and raise funds. The Chair is required to expand relationships with industry, alumni, community and other stakeholders.







Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. in Industrial Management, Technology Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering or a closely related field from a U.S. accredited university and have related teaching and research experiences in, but not limited to: manufacturing processes and technology, industrial management, OSHA for industry, cost-estimating, lean production, industrial hygiene, safety and risk management, quality assurance and Six-Sigma, CAD/CAM, construction management, and PLCs.







The College serves a student body of nearly 2,500 with about 80 full-time faculty and 25 staff members. The College is composed of the Departments of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Chemical and Natural Gas Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Industrial Management and Technology. The IMT Department has 6 faculty and offers the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees serving over 100 students.
