Site Assistant

Salary: £29,190 – £33,902 per annum.Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday–Friday (rotating shifts)Contract: Full Time, 52 weeks per yearLocation: Staines-upon-Thames

We are a Multi-Academy Trust educating over 1,800 pupils across two secondary schools in Surrey. Our ethos is Excellence through Collaboration, supporting both academic achievement and character development.

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to join our Site Team. A full clean UK driving licence is essential.

Job Duties (Summary)

  • Open, close and secure sites, including key-holder and alarm responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day site operations, school activities and lettings
  • Carry out cleaning, porterage, waste management and stock checks
  • Undertake general maintenance and minor improvement works, including painting and inspections
  • Ensure health & safety compliance, including emergency access during adverse weather
  • Maintain site records, utilities data and building system logs
  • Supervise contractors and oversee agreed works via approved purchase orders
  • Support and supervise lettings and out-of-hours events
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance and driving of the school minibus, as required
  • Conduct regular out-of-hours patrols and challenge unauthorised access
  • Promote safeguarding, site safety and the wellbeing of all users

Essential Criteria

  • First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Basic DIY / practical maintenance skills
  • Health and safety awareness and understanding of risk assessments
  • Experience maintaining records and site information
  • Experience working in a school or similar environment
  • Practical trade skills (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, joinery or electrical)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management, communication and organisational skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Professional approach with commitment to safeguarding, equality and development
  • Full clean UK driving licence
