SEN Teacher

Salary: £110 - £130 / daily

A Stockport based SEN school are looking for an experienced SEN Teacher to begin in March 2021. 

The school caters for students aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours. The school accepts students with social and emotional difficulties, though students may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, ASC, Dyslexia, Attachment Disorder, and a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of the students that attend have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

The ideal candidate will successfully set targets for pupil success and be confident in using their knowledge and expertise to monitor progress, give feedback and encourage their young people to take a responsible attitude to their own work. A creative approach and positive engagement/motivation with pupils throughout lessons is key to promoting learning and raising levels of attainment at this school. Smaller class sizes at this school means you can focus on building a purposeful learning environment that meets individual needs. 

Qualifications

Qualified teacher status
Degree
Primary or secondary or SEN teaching experience
Commitment to continuing professional development

Knowledge

A secure knowledge of the National Curriculum/Pre-National Curriculum and its assessment, recording and reporting requirements.
A strong understanding of the nurture group principles.
A knowledge and experience of developing personalised learning to raise standards of attainment and achievement of every child.
A working knowledge of how to effectively manage challenging behaviours.

Essential Criteria

To work with other staff in a team.
Well-developed inter-personal skills.
Awareness of behavioural strategies.
The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
ICT literate.
Able to consistently demonstrate successful and creative teaching including an ability to deliver good lessons
To have experience of working with KS2 pupils or low ability KS3
