We are seeking a Payroll Manager to lead our employee Payroll team, providing a comprehensive payroll bureau service to various businesses within our group. This role is integral to ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payments for our co-members and pension scheme. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to meet deadlines, possess strong leadership skills, and have experience in payroll management.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead the team to ensure all four-weekly and monthly payrolls are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Handle queries and escalations from both internal and external sources, responding within agreed service level agreements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in Finance, HR, IT, and Operations to ensure effective delivery of payroll services.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to HMRC and ROS, and manage communications with these entities.
  • Work with Finance to reconcile issues on online HMRC and ROS portals.
  • Manage submissions and payments to pension providers and approve payments on banking platforms.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance management for team members, setting objectives and goals.
  • Identify and implement process and procedure improvements, and keep the team updated with changes in payroll-related legislation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing payroll processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of HMRC and ROS reporting requirements.
  • Experience with financial reconciliations and handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to provide training and development for team members.
  • Awareness of current payroll legislation and its impact on payroll procedures.
