Interim Chartered Building Surveyor (Acquisition and Refurb Programme)
Location: Greater Manchester, hybrid
Rate: £#removed# per day
Contract: 3-6 months
Spencer Clarke Group have an opportunity for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to support a major public-sector programme focused on identifying, acquiring, and refurbishing residential properties to improve outcomes for children and young people in residential care.
You will lead activity across pre-acquisition, due diligence, approvals, acquisition and post-acquisition delivery, and then take ownership of refurbishment delivery, including project management and contract administration.
Responsibilities
Identifying and assessing acquisition opportunities and maintaining a live tracker of prospects
Coordinating desktop reviews, shortlisting, and arranging stakeholder viewings
Managing RICS Level 3 surveys and valuations, plus legal due diligence and conveyancing through to completion
Preparing appraisal and board-level approval documentation
Managing consultants through measured surveys, concept design, planning and building regs
Producing / signing off Descriptions of Works, tender packs, and procurement documentation
Leading refurbishment delivery: programme, cost control, risk, quality, reporting
Contract administration duties (including variations, valuations, interim payments, practical completion)
Chairing progress meetings and maintaining accurate project records
About You
Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) (or equivalent demonstrable senior experience)
Strong project management and contract administration capability (ideally JCT experience)
Comfortable with surveys, valuations, due diligence and stakeholder reporting/approvals
Confident operating in a public-sector environment with multiple stakeholders
Able to work on-site in Greater Manchester as required
