Robins & Morton is looking for a Superintendent to lead the planning, organization, integration and completion of our dynamic projects. Specifically, the Superintendent will provide servant-minded, relationship oriented leadership, earning the trust & respect of others, leading to efficient & collaborative services for our clients.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We’re looking for a collaborative, organized leader who’s not afraid of a challenge, with a degree, preferably (can be substituted with experience), in Building Science, Construction Management or Civil Engineering. The candidate will need to have 10+ years of construction experience/training. Healthcare construction experience is a plus.

Compentencies

  • Plan procedures based on start & completion times & staffing requirements for each phase.

  • Maintain client and designer relations.

  • Plan & set up efficient jobsite layout, including site utilization and primary control. 

  • Plan & establish flow of the work activities on the project. 

  • Direct development of overall Project Schedule. 

  • Arrange for & schedule inspections by government officials and consultants.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, orderly jobsite, utilizing 5s.

  • Maintain daily project diaries for duration of the project. 

  • Review shop drawings for conformance to contract and field conditions.

  • Manage procurement of tools & materials.

  • Prequalify, hire & lead all field team. Approve weekly field time cards. 

  • Review & evaluate all subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.

  • Uphold R&M Infection Control, Interim Life Safety & Building Envelope Policies & Procedures. 

  • Uphold Drug, Alcohol and Harassment policies.

  • Uphold jobsite safety in compliance with OSHA regulations & R&M Safety Program.

    Manage: Field Superintendents, MEP Coordinators, Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, Field Engineers, Safety Engineers, Foremen, Field Assistants, Field Office Assistants, Jobsite Assistants & all craft persons. May also manage: Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager. 

  • Lead in accordance with R&M Policies & Procedures & any applicable state & federal laws.

 

Collaboration

  • Participate in establishing profit/time objectives for Operations Manager review/approval.

  • Conduct project trade partner & owner meetings. 

  • Work with supervisors & trade partners to resolve workforce grievances.

 

Cotinuous Improvement

  • Take measures to ensure progression towards overall project schedule & time requirements. 

  • Uphold R&M quality control management.

  • Lead supervisors & trade partners engaged in planning & executing work, interpreting specifications & coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays. 

  • Prepare/review reports on progress, materials & costs, adjust schedules as indicated by reports. 

 

Leadership Development

  • Lead all jobsite field management to succeed at their job requirements.

  • Implement & lead near term scheduling meetings & address issues arising from meetings.

  • Manage all field operations of trade partners to effectively complete their work.

  • Teach others utilizing your experiences and knowledge.

  • Ability to read, analyze & interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions & procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to write routine reports & correspondence. 

  • Ability to speak effectively before all project team members. 

  • Ability to calculate figures & amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, & volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra & geometry. 

  • Use of basic reasoning to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction.

  • Ability to interpret variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. 

  • OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred. If not current, receive within 1st year & keep current. 

  • Knowledge of all facets of ground up Healthcare Construction/New Renovation. 

  • Able to frequently stand; walk; use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, controls; reach with hands & arms.

  • Ability to occasionally climb or balance & stoop or kneel. 

  • Ability to regularly work in outside weather conditions, frequently near moving mechanical parts; occasionally work in high, precarious places & exposed to wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, & vibration.

  • Ability to work in a moderate to high noise level.

 

OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION:

 

  • This position is a EXEMPT position and IS NOT subject to overtime pay. 

  • This position is assigned to jobsite locations; travel/relocation is required.

  • This position is part of the Operations Department.

  • This position reports direct to Sr Superintendent, Project MIC, or Operations Manager.
