Technical Design Engineer

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000

Location: Peterborough with travel to London

We are delighted to exclusively partner with a growing design-led business who are seeking a Technical Design Engineer to join its team; delivering detailed system designs across a range of residential and commercial projects. This role involves regular client interaction, on-site surveys, and collaborative design workshops, so strong communication skills and a professional presence are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct site surveys, client meetings, and design workshops

• Produce detailed designs using AutoCAD and other industry-standard tools

• Ensure compliance with building regulations and planning requirements

• Perform heating/cooling load calculations and equipment selection

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate systems

• Attend handover meetings to ensure smooth transition to operations

Requirements:

• Mechanical engineering qualification

• Proficiency in CAD software and MS Office

• Excellent communication skills — confident speaking with clients daily

• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking

• Full UK driving license and access to a car

• Willingness to travel to client sites as required

Training and support will be provided to deepen their industry expertise and software proficiency. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, client engagement, and delivering high-quality technical solutions.
