Reed Finance is working with a highly reputable and well established business based in Middlesbrough in their search for a talented and driven Management Accountant to join the management team and take ownership of the finance function within a fast-paced environment.
This is a key role where your analytical skills, commercial awareness and ability to communicate effectively will have a direct impact on business performance and future strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for all core financial activities within the business, including:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Producing accurate weekly and monthly management packs, including KPI analysis and commentary for senior leadership.
- Preparing and monitoring quarterly and annual P&L budgets, cashflow forecasts, and other key financial metrics with support from the financial accounting team.
Costing, Controls & Performance
- Implementing and maintaining standard costing records, analysing variances and recommending action where required.
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure accuracy of accounting and stock records
- Strengthen internal controls
- Identify inefficiencies and drive improvement
Commercial Insight
- Providing insightful financial analysis to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
- Contributing to forward-looking financial planning and supporting the development of long-term business strategies.
Professional Background
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience with strong capability.
- Proven experience preparing detailed and reliable management accounts.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Attributes
- Highly motivated and confident working independently, with a desire to take ownership of a complete finance function.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent Excel skills; experience with Power BI is advantageous but not essential.
- Commercially aware with the ability to communicate clearly across all areas of the business.
