Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term (Maternity Cover - up to 12 months)
Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our friendly residential care home in Ware, Hertfordshire. This is a maternity cover role offering an excellent opportunity to support and lead in a well-established setting committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for older adults.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Manager and play a key role in the day-to-day operational management of the service, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Registered Manager in the overall management of the care home.

*

Lead and supervise care staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management.

*

Ensure compliance with CQC standards and all relevant legislation.

*

Support with care planning, assessments, risk management, and safeguarding procedures.

*

Monitor care delivery to ensure it meets individual needs and supports residents' well-being.

*

Participate in staff recruitment, induction, and ongoing training.

*

Liaise with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.

*

Conduct internal audits, contribute to quality improvement plans, and uphold a safe and caring environment.

*

Act as Manager in the absence of the Registered Manager.

Requirements:

*

Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (minimum); Level 5 or working towards it desirable.

*

Previous experience in a senior care role, ideally as a Team Leader or Deputy Manager.

*

Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and care planning.

*

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

*

A compassionate, proactive, and professional approach.

*

Flexibility to work occasional weekends or on-call as required.

*

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
