We currently have recruiting for a qualified accountant for this Senior Pensions Accounting Manager, you will lead and manage the statutory requirements of these large and complex multi-employer pension schemes. You will be the subject matter expert and be responsible for all accounting services, ensuring compliance and relevant legislation to deliver against the annual reporting cycle.

For this newly created pension's role, it is essential that you are a CCAB qualified accountant and possess excellent technical pensions accounting knowledge, you will lead and develop a small team that will be responsible for all the accounting services in relation to the pension's schemes and investment finds.

For this key pension accountant role, you will report to the head of Finance and will be responsible for:

* Preparing annual statutory financial reports for the pension schemes, and other investment fund in accordance with UK GAAP and the Pensions SORP,

* Managing the delivery of a smooth, well-controlled and timely month-end and year-end timetable, working with the Senior Pensions Accountant and wider Finance teams,

* Ensuring the pension scheme accounting records within the finance system are accurate and kept up to date by posting monthly journals and performing monthly reconciliations, including relevant reconciliations to the Pension Administration System.

* Developing the annual report and accounts in accordance with best and emerging practice by keeping abreast of new developments.

* Ensuring effective cash management for the Pension schemes, including the development of regular cash flow reporting as required.

* Overseeing the production of daily, weekly, monthly and annual cashflow forecasting and monitoring spreadsheets and active management of cash balances of all the Schemes while optimising the funds available for investment.

* Leading the monthly investment meeting between Finance and the Pensions Investments team, ensuring the papers are relevant and timely to ensure that appropriate action is taken.

* Advising on and implementing appropriate accounting treatments for new and continuing activities in relation to the pension schemes.

* Providing support for projects within the Finance team, which could include process improvement projects, system projects, implementation of new processes and solutions.

You will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified accountant with significant post qualified experience, you must be an accountant with significant technical accounting experience and demonstrable knowledge of working with and managing large and complex pensions schemes - it is essential that you are a subject matter expert and have excellent knowledge of accounting standards that are applicable to various pension schemes.

You must have first class communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, accountants, senior management to achieve the required results
