£10.99 per hourFull Time 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Flexible home/office (Carlisle) working Maternity Cover, 6 months initially with the possibility of extension This role is to assist in the financial monitoring and reporting of information, ensuring proper accounting conventions are adhered to in the allocation of capital/revenue expenditure thereby contributing to the overall smooth operation of its delivery for the Capital Programme, Highways and Corporate Landlord function. The team is directly responsible for the delivery of the County Council's capital programme approx. £120m p.a. and management of the Corporate Landlord function, supporting a diverse range of front-line services and back office functions including Children's Services, Adult Services, Highways, Corporate Buildings and Fire Service. You would not have any direct budget responsibilities. Job Duties Measure and approve applications for payment against the National Schedule of Rates (NSR) for the Planned Preventative, Statutory & Reactive Maintenance contract ensuring that each is contained within their approved budget, investigate variations and take appropriate action to amend. Monitor performance using financial information derived from corporate financial systems and reconciling to the Property Database (Atrium) & Highways Works Ordering System. (HIMS) Under the direction of the Control Officer, support the wider team through maintaining and providing accurate monthly monitoring controls for management purposes to enable budgets to be monitored effectively. Undertake evaluations of scheme and projects prepared within and on behalf of the Directorate to confirm compliance with business and quality standards Assist in the allocation of formula capital to schools in accordance with Dfes formula, ensuring that funding is spent in accordance with the Asset Management Programme priorities and DfES Experience/Qualifications needed * Working to AAT NVQ in Accounting or demonstrable experience * Familiarity with MS Outlook/Office Suite/MS NVQ, Property Database or similar systems * Budgetary or monitoring knowledge/experience * Capable of providing a sense of purpose and importance to the regular, systematic and accurate collection and maintenance of project information * Ability to work to meet deadlines and audit requirements * Ability to resolve issues through own initiative or minimal supervision * Tactful, diplomatic and assertive in dealing with challenging situations
