Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical systems design across a diverse range of projects—from residential and commercial to healthcare, education, and industrial developments, including schemes up to
£100m in value.
Role OverviewAs a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of mechanical systems design, overseeing projects from concept to completion. You will mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership, and ensure integrated, low-carbon, energy-efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the design of HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and domestic water systems from feasibility to construction.
- Produce 2D and 3D coordinated outputs using AutoCAD/Revit; perform dynamic thermal modelling with TAS.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable, low-carbon solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal QA reviews.
- Prepare energy/sustainability reports and Part?L/F compliance assessments.
- Conduct site visits to verify installation accuracy and support technical coordination.
- Engage with clients and contractors, overseeing value-engineering initiatives.
What We’re Looking For - Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
- Chartered status (CEng, IMechE/CIBSE) or working towards it.
- 6+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design within consultancy.
- Proficiency in TAS, AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp.
- Strong knowledge of UK regulations (Part?L & Part?F, CIBSE guidelines) and sustainable design practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- A proactive, structured approach capable of delivering complex projects on time and budget.
