Reed are working with a reputable College in Birmingham and are seeking a Plumbing Lecturer on a temporary ongoing basis. This role is crucial in supporting the College's mission to provide quality education and training tailored to local needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical plumbing and renewable courses up to Level 3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach on plumbing and renewable courses, covering both theory and practical aspects up to Level 3.
  • Plan and manage learning programmes, including curriculum development and regular review meetings.
  • Manage and track student learning programmes, ensuring all related paperwork and tracking documents are up-to-date.
  • Act as a course leader, providing academic support and meeting the vocational and educational needs of learners.
  • Conduct assessments, assign homework, and provide timely feedback to enhance the learning experience.
  • Manage classroom activities, including monitoring attendance, punctuality, and student behaviour.
  • Liaise with parents/guardians, schools, and other organisations regarding student attendance and achievements.
  • Maintain high internal and external quality standards in teaching and learning.
  • Participate in enrichment programmes, work placements, and educational visits to enhance the learning experience.
  • Comply with the College's Quality Assurance procedures, including lesson observations.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Education, PGCE, DTLLS, PTLLS, or equivalent (or working towards qualification).
  • Hold NVQ Level 3 or Advanced Technical Certificate in either gas or plumbing.
  • Experience of teaching up to and including Level 3.
  • Ability to teach a range of renewable subjects including ground source/heat source pumps, solar, and PV, grey/rain water harvesting.
  • TAQA Assessor & Verifiers Qualification (or willing to work towards qualifications).
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and demonstrable presentation skills.
  • Demonstrable teaching skills and experience.
  • Experience of working successfully as part of a team.
  • Registered with the relevant professional body applicable to the role.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
