SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary SEMH School, Bournemouth

Full-time| Monday-Friday | Temp-to-Perm | £14.96 per hour

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work primarily in a class of up to 8 pupils, supporting the teacher with learning, emotional regulation and positive behaviour for learning. You will help maintain a purposeful classroom environment, build trusting relationships with pupils, and contribute to a team that values collaboration, reflection and shared success. Your role will be central to helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

• Pay: £14.96 per hour
• Hours: Monday-Tuesday: 08:30am - 16:05pm / Wednesday-Friday: 08:30am - 15:15pm

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional learning needs
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation and behaviour support
• GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths
• Confident following learning plans and supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships
• High levels of professionalism, empathy and emotional intelligence
• Ability to remain calm, consistent and resilient in challenging situations
• Understanding of safeguarding, equality and data protection principles
