Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Lead Secondary Design Engineer (P&C) on a starting 6-12 month contract based in Stafford (Hybrid).

The role will offer a high-level overview of design and interface with various teams throughout the project cycle.

This role falls INSIDE IR35.

Responsibilities/Experience of the Lead Secondary Design Engineer (P&C):

* Technical responsibility for Secondary P&C design of substations. Accountable for approving engineering design within the department.

* To ensure consistency in design by chairing design reviews and adhering to design specifications, process. To co-ordinate with departmental peers for the design consistency across different projects.

* Responsible for co-ordination with the departmental engineering, client, civil, project management and other stake holders to deliver a high-quality technical output from the team in line with the agreed delivery timescales and budget

* Co-ordination with the engineering planner and monitoring the engineering progress of the project, escalating issues as and when required to the Engineering Manager

* To support the engineering manager and work on the departmental improvement issues.

* Responsible for standardisation of onshore secondary design.

* Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies, for example Business Conduct Guidelines & Confidential Information.

* The technical guarantor of the proper performance of design works conditions in his/her field of activity, in matter of committed design budget (man days), deadline and Quality, in line with Customer expectation, while promoting ease of installation, operation and maintenance of the system.

* Plans basic and detailed design activities, manages & oversees detailed execution progress, coordinates delivery of required engineering documentation for procurement, manufacturing and site erection associated to concerned activity, based on Customer specifications and requirement, and internal standards.

* Proven technical capability associated with the design and/or application of power system protection and controls.

* Preparation of Protection and Control design deliverables, feasibility studies, reports, programmes, and cost estimating.

* Experience in preparing Single Line Diagram (SLD), Key Line Drawings (KLD) and Substation Layouts.

* Experience in busbar, feeder, cable, transformer and reactor protection and control; including interface with CT, VT, circuit breaker, disconnector, and earthing systems.

* Experience in the preparation of detailed electrical schematic diagrams for substation Protection and Control systems.

* Calculation of relay settings and preparation of relay configuration files.

* Proven ability of working with internal and external parties, e.g., equipment suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, professional bodies, and working within a strong team-working culture.

* Management and control of drawing development. Creation of site packages. Creation of final record packages. Identify all relevant standards and Customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National / International Standards and legislation, and contract specification
