Responsibilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging experienced Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide professional and technical advice to head teachers and premises managers across diverse educational and operational environments. Your responsibilities will include delivering minor building projects and coordinating reactive repairs using established framework contractors within a designated geographical area.

Act as the first point of contact for clients, providing sound professional advice on all property-related matters.

Manage client relationships and set expectations in this customer-focused role.

Coordinate all contract work from inception to completion, advising on statutory requirements including Planning, Building Control, Asbestos, and Fire Safety.

Review, analyze, advise, and report on service level agreements and client's planned & reactive maintenance budget expenditure.

Manage the SLA agreement with member schools, providing premises management, strategy, and planning advice, along with 24/7 emergency assistance.

Provide support and advice on complex and technical areas of school building operation, management, funding, and Health & Safety compliance.

Collaborate proactively with other members of the Building Design Team and across the Council's other Design and Construction disciplines.

Person Specification

Professionally qualified/relevant degree (or equivalent), plus substantial experience OR substantial vocational experience demonstrating development through progressively demanding roles.

Member of a Construction-related Professional Institute.

Proven track record in Building Surveying design and delivery.

Experience in working within/for the public sector and in different operational areas for a range of clients and service/end users.

Evidence of providing specialist technical advice and support to clients, team members, and across other disciplines.

Experience in Project Management and delivery of complex and high-risk Building Services related projects.

Management of a small team, including allocating work, performing design reviews, project delivery, and team performance.

Ability to prepare detailed electronic drawings using AutoCad and communicate Building elements for procuring and delivering refurbishment/remodeling works.

Ability to organize, guide, motivate, and lead teams of multi-disciplinary professionals including contractors and consultants.

Strong demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills.
