Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:





The Packaging Design Engineer (Engineer) is capable of designing packages for Photonics technology for AIM Photonics at our Rochester, NY, test and assembly packaging (TAP) facility. The Engineer will be expected to design/develop packages that fit with SUNY Polytechnics silicon photonics technology consisting of interposers and silicon photonic die. In this role, the Engineer should also know how to integrate packaging systems with laminates such as BGA and laminate boards. In addition, the incorporation of lasers and fiber interconnects will be part of the overall package and perform DFM checks on completed designs. The Engineer is expected to be a self-starter and work effectively with customers and the packaging engineers at Rochester, the Albany facility and University partners. A good attitude and work ethic are required. Familiarity with assembly and manufacturing processes is highly desired. The Engineer will be working in a start-up environment. A software plan and the ability to apply it to photonic packages must be established by the Engineer. Other reasonable duties as assigned.





Job Requirements:

The engineer must have some knowledge of packaging design and where to acquire the right software for the job. They must have design experience in either packaging or electronics for at least 1 year. CAD tool proficiency is absolutely essential. A bachelor's degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
